Prominent ear deformity refers to ears that protrude more than normal from the head, making them noticeably visible, especially from the front or back. This condition affects approximately 5% of the population in varying degrees and types and can occur in one or both ears. Although it does not cause any health issues, it can lead to significant psychological distress. Apart from the early neonatal period, the correction of prominent ear deformity requires surgical intervention, which is referred to as "otoplasty."
With facial aging, various signs of aging also appear in the neck area over time. However, the aging of this area differs somewhat from that of the face. The neck skin is thin and lies over a very thin muscle called the platysma. Over the years, this muscle can create vertical and, more commonly, horizontal wrinkles on the skin. Additionally, other factors like reduced skin elasticity and fat accumulation in the jowl area can contribute to signs of aging in the neck. A neck lift is a general term used to describe surgical procedures that address all these causes.
An implant is an artificial material placed inside or on living tissues within the body. Prosthetics that replace or mimic missing, deformed, or deficient limbs and structures are also considered implants because they are placed within living tissue. Prosthetics are named after the area they are used for, such as dental prosthetics, facial-jaw prosthetics, arm prosthetics, or hair prosthetics. They can be made from various materials, including titanium, gold, vinyl, acrylic, porcelain, and rubber.
The method used in double chin aesthetic surgery is liposuction. Your plastic surgeon will determine the amount of fat to be removed from the chin area using a vacuum technique. Very fine cannulas are inserted into the chin, and the procedure is relatively quick. It can be performed under local or general anesthesia. You can be discharged after the procedure. In some patients, sagging in the neck area can also be corrected along with the fat removal in the chin. In such cases, a combination of liposuction and a lift procedure is performed, extending the duration and requiring general anesthesia.
A brow lift is an effective method for addressing a sagging and loose appearance on the face. Over time, due to aging, the face can develop a sagging and loose structure, leading to a different appearance. One of the most noticeable signs of aging is the drooping of the eyebrows.
Eyelid surgery, medically known as blepharoplasty, is among the most popular cosmetic procedures in recent years. In addition to sagging that occurs in the upper and lower eyelids due to aging, eyelid surgery also comes to the forefront for sagging caused by genetic factors, trauma from accidents, or conditions such as infections.
Buccal fat removal refers to the surgery for removing excess fat in the cheeks to accentuate the cheekbones and create more proportionate facial contours. To provide a more attractive and balanced appearance, excess fat is removed through an incision inside the mouth, eliminating the bulky and overweight look that bothers the patient. This facial aesthetic procedure, also known as the "Hollywood cheek" due to its popularity among Hollywood stars, highlights the cheekbones and makes the face look slimmer, giving it a refined and youthful appearance.
Fat injection is usually performed under local anesthesia, but it can also be a part of a surgical procedure under general anesthesia. For instance, during a facelift, the cheeks may be augmented with fat injections. The harvested fat is processed through specific procedures (washing, centrifugation) and transferred to an appropriate syringe for injection into the target area. Since no incisions are made during these procedures, there are no visible scars.
The “Lip Lift,” also known as upper lip shortening or upper lip elevation, is a surgical procedure performed on individuals who are dissatisfied with the length of their upper lip, which they feel disrupts the proportion of their face. The area between the upper border of the lip and the base of the columella is evaluated in lip lift surgery. Due to the shape of the incision, this procedure is sometimes referred to in English as the "Bullhorn surgery."
